What an incredible year 2017 was for us.

In April we ventured to Bhutan, an amazing country in the Himalayas, where Daniel presented for the first time outside of Australia. We were blessed to meet many wonderful autism advocates and professionals from around the world. Some particular highlights were:

  • Flying past Mt Everest on our way into Bhutan

  • The Bhutanese Prime Minister attending one of Daniel's presentations about Self Advocacy

  • Meeting several mothers of children on the autism spectrum and the tears of hope they expressed upon hearing of Daniel's journey

On the Queens Birthday, Daniel was honored to be announced as a recipient of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in recognition of his work for the disabled and the community. We were delighted to attend Government House in Melbourne for the Investiture of Daniel's OAM by the Victorian Governor, the Honorable Linda Dessau AC.

In September Daniel and Daryl, for the first time, presented together at the Asia Pacific Autism Conference on the main stage at the Sydney International Convention Centre.

In November, we kicked off with our first presentation of 'From Diagnosis to OAM - A Personal Autism Journey' to an audience of 125 in our home city of Bendigo.
